Break on Through to the Other Side

Here's before I started

After 15 loads I stopped to take a break

After 30 loads, I broke through to the other side of the mountain!

It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

It's absolutely georgeous weather today. No wind or rain, it's sunny out and the temperature is perfect enough to not have to wear even a jacket.

So project of the day, remove dog poo from lawn... move dirt from pile to hole!

Sometimes Being Grumpy Pays Off!

So this morning in my ho-hum state of mind, I wrote Verizon ANOTHER email requesting that they finally fix my cell phone so that I could receive calls. I've had it almost a month and it still wasn't working right. It was quite a grumpy letter, expressing my displeasure with my useless phone. I told them that I was patient long enough and that they needed to correct the problem right away. They called Kenny this afternoon and after 3 phone transfers and a little work on their part the problem was solved! I can recieve calls on my cell phone now!!! WOOT!!! (can you tell I'm happy?)

If I wasn't in such a pissy mood today I may not of written that email and I may of been waiting forever for it to be fixed. Hooray for pissy moods!

Internet Addiction Got Me Down

I have been a little down lately. I fell off the "normal" internet use wagon again late last month and the house has gone to pot. Here I am on the computer again. I've checked my email 30 times today with only a few spam messages showing up. Have you ever checked your email only to see nothing there and clicked refresh or on the In-box link several times hopeing that one of those times you'll get a message. It's like playing slots. It's depressing, I only look at 3 websites: my personal blog, The Camp Fire blog and Gmail. I rotate through them over and over and over and over again for 10-12 hours a day. I'll link to a few of the blogs I have on my links list, they never update, they have normal lives that don't require an IV supply of internet daily. Kenny got on me about it a little last night, not upset or anything. He just, you know, poked at the wound that I pretend I don't have. It hurt.

I should be preping for a Camp Fire Meeting tonight, but alas it'll wait till the last second. We're going to do some more community involvement studies. Talking about Recycling and some discussion about the Flag and what it means. It should go well, I have a smaller group tonight so keeping them together will be easier.

Irish Protestant,Pinch Me!

When I was younger, my mother always dressed me in ORANGE on St. Patricks day. She always told me that Catholics wear green and Protestants wear orange. Which is true, that was at one time the tradition (I looked it up). I would argue and argue with her about it, because to tell you the truth, none of the kids, in my school, knew of this "rule" and I would undoubtedly be pinched throughout the day. We wern't even practicing protestants, so why the heck did it matter.

Now I'm not either protestant or catholic, but I would like to wear colors on St. Patricks day. Though, perhaps I could get away with white. The color in the middle of the Irish flag which stands for peace between the Catholics and the Protestants. I did see several shirts with the whole Irish flag on them or maybe I'll just wear the one that says Erin go Braghless! Never do I find such complications with choosing a color to wear as I do on St. Patricks day, most likely from the beatings I took at school.

I was voted most Irish in my elementary school... It was in Hawaii though so I definately was the only red head with freckles.

Travis Pfister Memorial

I usually keep this Camp Fire stuff to the Camp Fire websites but this was very heart warming and I figured on sharing it with all my readers.

I took the kids to the Travis Pfister Memorial, we stood amongst hundreds of people to give our support to the family of a fallen soldier. It was a fantastic community event, the kids were very happy to be a part of it. I have to admit when we first arrived I was very choked up, I cried and cried, it was an awesome experience. The memorial was on a Sunday so many of our members were not able to attend but we tried to represent them the best that we could. Probably the most heart warming parat of the whole event was when motorcycle clubs around the region rode in with more than 400 bikes and flags. Again, it was a great experience and a teriffic way to help the kids get involved with the community.
