True Love is Sitting Through 108 Degree Weather to See Two Cartwheels

Chloe had her first gymnastics exhibiton last night infront of the crowd between the 2nd and 3rd inning at the Tri-City Dust Devils vs Eugene Emeralds game. She was so excited to be a part of the "team". She sat with her teacher untill the show. If you looked up teachers pet in the dictionary you'd see a picture of my daughter sitting next to her instructor.

Grandpa Ken and Grandma Lori and Cierra came to see too. It was frickin 108 degrees out, I don't think it ever really cooled off any.

There was about 15 little kids doing thier forward rolls or cartwheels and by the time it was chloes turn she was able to do just a few little carwheels before they pulled her off the field. She didn't know her time was short and she still had a blast. She really enjoys gymnastics, I'm glad I got her involved early.

We almost NEVER go to professional teamsports so we stuck out the heat to watch the rest of the game. The game was great. It was family night, with Dust Devils hat for the first 500 fans and $1.00 hot dogs, sodas and ice creams. The kids were having a blast stomping their feet, singing songs and eating hot dogs and ice cream. The girls got their hats signed by Dusty the team mascot. Little Nicky spent the evening yelling, with his arms over his head, "hit the ball!" he was a crowd pleaser to say the least. The team won 8-2, hooray Dust Devils!

An Askew Night

So last night, at wing night, we discussed having some theme movie nights. After some discussion and thought about this I decided that it's been awhile since my B movie days and it would be a lot of fun to do movie nights again B or not.

To start off the theme night movie series :)A View Askew night would be appropriate with Clerks 2 in theaters on Friday. But wiith Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back we're looking at 8-9 hours of movie time. Should I split it up? I could do three one night and two another... Looks like I've got another function to plan.

It's been awhile since I've been to The View Askewniverse so I perused it this morning to see what Kevin Smith is up to.

As a fan, or at the very least as someone who is familiar with Kevin Smith movies, I expect that his movies will be vulgar in some way shape or form. To not expect this is like going to a Quentin Tarantino movie not expecting violence. Recently a reputable critic, who was paid to sit down and watch Clerks 2, walked out 30 minutes into the movie. Not only did he walk out of the movie but he made a big deal about how bad he thought the movie was, bringing all the attention in the theater to himself and unprofessionally interrupting the screening. Anyway if you've not read silentbobspeaks before, Kevin Smith does pretty well blogging about current events in his life and this event is one you can't miss.

Build Foundry Furnace
Re Finish Pine Dresser
Finish Back Yard
Knitt Sweater
Build Vacuum Pump

So I've finally finished the little 4 drawer pine dresser that I rescued from my mom's house. It's been a long project mainly because of the 20 years of paint layers that I had to strip from it. After getting it all cleaned up I painted it basic white. I didn't use a foam brush so there are streaks in the paint, but it kind of gives it an old fashioned feel. I'm going to put the original ugly black hardware back on it untill I come up with the new stuff. I simply have to get the girls clothing in their own rooms. It's getting to hard to organize all of their stuff in chloe's little 3 drawer press board thing from RiteAid. That and my garage is something that I never wanted it to be, a storage unit for projects. This is a big one and It will free up enough space to be able to see what ones I have left.

The Motivation Killing Machine

I woke up this morning all motivated to do work around the house. I made the huge mistake of sitting infront of this Motivation Killing Machine. I had a bit more email than usual and some interesting blogs to read. Look there it went, all the built up motivation to do something productive was drained from my body and squashed dead by the glowing box sitting in front of me. *Heavy Sigh. Looks like I'm worthless for the rest of today. In 4 or 5 hours I may get up the energy to drive to a friends house for a visit. But we'll just have to see.
