So What if it's not Metal Casting

Okay so I'm not starting with molten metal like I'd like to. But resin could be cool too. It will at least get me started in the whole casting hobby.
If I like this and after a bit of practice with the "kit" I may have to buy the big bottles of resin and latex. I have a lot of great ideas for projects in my head. The main one is a 3D version of The Settlers of Catan. Inspired by these sites Constructing a 3D Settlers of Catan and 3D Catan. My first cast will be the hex base of each of the board pieces. I'll be sure to post... busy summer though. Hopefully I can get pieces cast before fall so I can spend that time painting. So excited!

Cute Kid Stuff

So I was putting on Ainsley's shoes yesterday and just to be a "funny mom" I said, "whoa Ainsley, your feet stink!"

Ainsley responded quite frankly,"I know, it's because I'm human".

Craft Night

So it's time again for me to make a fool of myself and attempt another craft night. I've been racking my brain trying to come up with a "craft" to do at this craft night. For most crafters this wouldn't be difficult. But all my projects are in a scale that are not acceptable at a craft party. You can't by supplies for most things I like to do at a craft store... I have to go to a Hardware store. So projects I have waiting to be done: Sanding the kids toddler beds and painting them white, finishing the dresser I bought Ainsley, making new hardware for the dresser. The Foundry Hobby I'd like to get started on, some resin 3D Settler's of Catan pieces, Re-Framing a Mirror thats been in the garage for a year, building a little shelf for the living room etc. etc. you get the picture. I thought about attempting to make the hardware for Ainsley's dresser out of polymer clay, but I'd hate to show up with a project that I have not experimented with first. The resin 3D moulding would of been interesting to do in a room full of beading and needlepoint ladies. So I've reverted back to a hobby I've lost interest in, Knitting... I've not lost interest in it because I don't like it. It's just a pretty expensive hobby, and I'm pretty cheap! But I went and bought a skein of yarn and some fattamous needles and I plan on doing a safe scarf. It's been a year since I've knitted anything, but it seems that I can still do it. I've already checked my gauge and have knitted the first few rows to get started so I don't have to spend a lot of time trying to figure out stuff tonight. Heck I even went as far as winding my skein into a nice ball. I should be all set... wish me luck!

Nothing Much

As you can tell by the title, I'm not doing nothing much... except running myself ragged with swimming lessons and late night softball games in the pouring rain.

The kids are having fun with lessons, Chloe is in level 1 so she is in the big pool this year. "Swimming by herself". Ainsley is still in minnows but only on a age/maturity technicality. I think she scored better than Chloe on her exit exam last year. I don't think she has a problem with it though, they play games and play with toys in minnows. Once in level 1, even though they're in the big pool, the games and toys are gone. It's raining again today so I get to watch in the rain.

It was pouring last night, when the kids and I went to watch Kenny's softball games we left wet, chilled and bummed out. Dads team didn't win :( The kids are hacking up their lungs, hopefully they didn't get too sick.

Anyway this guy is doing stuff way more interesting than I am. Though he problaby doesn't think so.
