Another Post About Poop!

Yesterday morning at 4:30 I awoke to the screams of a small boy in the next room. His tummy was really hurting him. Of course that's what happens when you don't poop for a week. Well I decided when he starts screaming about his tummy at 4:30am, It was probably time to go to a doctor. Dominic was very excited to go to the doctors office. Very patient and quiet and did everything he was told... he just loved being there. But after explaining everything I was doing for Dominic's regimen the doctor looked pretty impressed and told me I know how to treat it better than he could of explained it. I'm using all the medicines right and feeding Dominic all the right things. It's all up to Dominic now.

Granted it was a little affirming to be told that I knew what I was doing. At the same time it was frustrating, because it wasn't really working.

So to make the $20.00 visit worth it I talked to the doctor about how long I could keep Nic on Ducolax. I usually stop after a week of evening treatments and either back off the therapy all together or use mineral oil on toast. The doctor told me that it was very gentle and to use as I need to get Nic over his fear of passing a stool. I also got permission to double the dose if needed.

So, after an enema yesterday to clear the huge blockage, we started all over again. This time I bought Metamucil in a cookie form. It smells wonderfull. I imagine it tastes like a cinnamon grahm cracker. Lots of apple juice and water - still! I got raisins and regular grahm crackers and also stocked the fridge with apples and other fruit cup treats and some special, regulatory yogurts. He got one Ducolax last night before bed. He poo'd a number of times yesterday, and one good one this morning. I think this one will work, he really hated the Metamucil orange drink. But he loves his "cookies" in the morning.

I am Soooo Going to Blog About This!

I apologize in advance, my posts lately seem to be a series of "bad day" narrations, but thats whats been happening.

Yesterday:

Got up early (well earlier than I'm used to) to take Kenny to work. We only have 1 working vehicle and I rarely get it. So I was getting up with Kenny to nab the car for the day. We woke up a little before 8, got the kids going and then when we were brushing our teeth (8:05) Kenny says, "I had a dentist appointment today at 8." So we rush everyone into the car, Kenny calls to tell them he's running late, and we arrive at the Dentist 20 minutes late.

We drop Kenny off at work, I realize MY keys aren't in my purse so I ask Kenny for his.

We get home and I remember that there are no house keys on Kenny's car key chain. Luckily we still managed to get in the house where I see MY keys and put them in my purse with Kenny's keys. I lock the house up tight this time, positive I have both sets of keys on me.

I go to Lori's house, the plan is for me to drop off the pile of clothing the Camp Fire group collected for Clothing Ministry at the Cathedral of Joy (run by Kenny's Grandmother) and then go to the store really quick to get some groceries. All of this, during an hour where Lori watches the all the kids for me. Then I needed to get back in time to watch the kids while Lori took Sierra to gymnastics class. She needed to be back in time for me to be able to get home by 3:30 to meet Chloe when she came home from school.

I wasn't at the house for 10 minutes. I didn't go anywhere but Lori's kitchen. And I defiantly drove over to her house using MY keys. Yet, before I left her house I couldn't find them, we looked and looked but they weren't in the house. I looked really good in the truck and then checked my purse again. I got a little absent minded here, when I looked in my purse and saw a set of keys I assumed they were MY set, I was relived and headed out with a truck load of toddler/kindergartner clothing. I arrive at the church at 12:30ish, I'm told that grandma is already at the church and would be at the clothing ministry at 12:30 or 1... I thought if she wasn't there I could get ahold of her or find her at the church. I waited 45 minutes before I finally left the clothing in front of the door and left to return to Lori's house. NO TIME TO GET GROCERIES. I was late, I barely made it back to the house before 1:30, the time that Sierra need to BE AT gymnastics. (I've not realized my keys were still missing yet)

I sit with the kids for 2 hours while Lori and Sierra are at gymnastics.

As I'm waiting I figure that when Lori gets back I should be able to go pick up Chloe go grocery shopping and go back to pick up Ainsley and Nic before I had to get Kenny from work.

After getting the okay from Lori I had 45 minutes before Chloe was supposed to get home from school. That gave me 15 minutes to buy shoes at Fred Meyer on the way home. (The shoes were on my shopping list, but I couldn't get them at the grocery store) I ran in bought a pair of Nike's for Kenny and a pair of Sketcher's for me, it was under 90.00 for the two pairs.

I made it home by 3:30, it was then I realized that the keys I had been using were Kenny's and that there wasn't a house key on them. I locked the house up tight and would have to wait for Chloe outside. (I called grandma and had her look through the bags of clothing for my keys, and I called Lori to check her house again, no luck!) So, I sat there and waited for the bus to arrive. Some days it's 30 minutes late so I wasn't too concerned at 3:50. I was, however, tired of sitting in my car. I decided to go to my neighbor Shayla's house and wait there. When I get in the house there, I'm awfully surprised to see CHLOE playing video games. I seemed to have forgotten that it was Wednesday and Chloe gets out of school early on Wednesdays. Like 2 hours early! Chloe wasn't bothered at all. (We had talked to her about going to Shayla's house if she ever came home and no one was there) I was feeling extremely guilty and tired, it had already been a really long day. I couldn't say enough, "I'm Sorrys."

I called Kenny before we left, to ask when he wanted to be picked up. "Do you want to be picked up at 5:00? Or do you want me to see if we can hang out with Lori for a bit while you do homework?" He suggested I try the latter. So, I got permission to stay at Lori's house for a while.

We gossiped and complained and had a nice time. They bought pizza for dinner, which was very nice. Right before we left at 8:00 I called Kenny to tell him we were going to get him soon. After I hang up the phone, I look up and Ainsley is in a princess dress. Her clothes are nowhere to be found and Chloe is in the same predicament. We scrounge around the house and find the clothes and get everyone dressed when Kenny calls, "I'm outside waiting." I told him we'd be right there. Then we left to go pick him up.

I space out a bit and miss all my turns, I realize as I'm on the exit ramp to rd 100 that I forgot to pick Kenny up and we get back on the highway to go get my poor husband that is standing out in the cold!

I pick him up and he complains, "It's been an hour since you told me you were leaving!" I'm grumpy too, of course, and complain some. He then mentions to me on the bi pass, "So, I take it you didn't want to go to wing night. This hit me like a ton of bricks! I started crying. I really could've used a wing night, but it was too late.

I kicked up my feet when we got home, the kids went to bed on their own with very little arguments, and I watched some Stargate SG1. I felt much better after Stargate and I actually went to bed before midnight.

Keys are still missing, keep an eye out for me.

The Upsidedown House

I don't know why, but recently my kids (Ainsley and Nic mostly) have taken on a new hobby. They, for some reason, get a great deal of pleasure when they tip over all the furniture in the house (that they can manage to pick up). So when I get up from the computer and go check on them I always seem to find the green chair and blue glider rocker upside down or at least laying on its side and numerous other things such as books, blankets and bar stools strewn about the living room. Right now they're sitting in their rooms until their father gets home! I knew there was a reason my mom did that. It wasn't for punishment purposes, it was to give the house (and her) a break!

Number 200

So this is my 200th blog post on Everything Erin. I'm doing pretty well with it, my first year blogger anniversary is at the end of April! I'll have to do something really special for that, maybe I'll do a video blog of our trip to denver. That would be fun to do.

Malcolm has been chewing up everything in the house. He's chewing on something right now, probably something important. I can hear the crunch, crunch of the object in his mouth. There is no saving objects from the jaws of Malcolm. Once he has it in his mouth it's instantly trash. I pull things from him probably 10 or 15 times a day. It's one of his favorite games to play. Get something to chew on, chew on it close enough for mommy to hear. When she gets up to get it, RUN!!!! It's so much fun to have her chase me!

There, it was a plastic lid to a floam container. He's now attached to me with the leash. He spends a great deal of time on his leash in the house. Which must be increadibly boring for him. But I really can't trust him in house and I don't want to kennel him all day. Though the leash thing is pretty close to that.

Pretty In Pink

For her birthday, in September, we got Chloe a fancy curtain rod. It came with the promise of new curtains. I had some cute butterfly matching toddler blankets that I had planned on converting to curtain panels. But when I went to put up the curtains I could only find one cute butterfly toddler blanket. (If you have our other cute butterfly toddler blanket with the pale blue border, please return it.) So, without panels to hang on the new rod, it went into the garage.

5 months later I saw some dark pink fabric in the dollar pile at WalMart. I bought the last of the bolt, which was only about a yard and a half, it was only a dollar. It wasn't enough to do two full length panels. After thinking for a bit I remembered that Chloe had a Hello Kitty window valance that had been in the linen closet for a few years. It was just perfect to strech the fabric the entire height of the window. I also had some light pink fabric I bought really cheap last summer to use as a liner. I had enough fabric now, all for under $5.00 . The valance was probably 12.00 or so, but it was a gift.

So, now I had the material figured out. Yesterday, I set forth to sew up some simple curtain panels for Chloe. I cut it out and pieced it together on the awesome work table in my game room. You know, the one with the lights hanging over it. I cut the liner 1/4" smaller on the sides. Pinned them together, right sides facing (being sure to strech the lining to the width of the main panel). And sewed it together like a pillow, leaving a small opening to make the panel right side out. Stitched close the small hole that we used to pull it right side out. Then ironed it flat. After installing the hardware we hung the pretty pink curtains. Because the liner is slightly smaller, the curtain curves in slightly on the sides so that it hides the liner.

That was my project for yesterday, not bad for an afternoons worth of work.

Baldwin Baby Shower

It tooke me long enough to post this! Last Saturday was my bestest girl friends baby shower. It was at her beautifull new home in Kennewick. I saw lots of old friends there that I haven't seen or heard from in a decade, it was nice to catch up. Rachel and Adam got lots of great stuff for baby. I put together a slide show of the few pictures I got at the shin dig.
