Insurance Woe's

Allstate was purchased by some 'other' company and is wrapped in new packaging called Allstate Blue. I probably wouldn't of even noticed but I glanced down at our premium rates to see if they'd gone down at all and... HOLY CRAP they went up $549.25 from our last premium! So then I decide I better read the whole package this time.

They start off by really sugar coating the change in management with... blah blah blah... I am pleased to offer your Allstate renewal for another six months... blah blah blah... You are a loyal customer so we are offering you our loyalty bonus... blah blah blah.

Then they say your total premium reflects a combined discount of $605.01
(the increase from your last premium is $549.25)

Really the loyalty bonus is "free" roadside assistance and eligibility to receive more bonuses like a home ownership discount etc. So, nothing about the new policy was really much different except the $600 price jack.

Time to call the agent and say, "I've noticed a serious price increase on our policy, I'd like to talk about it." It was silent for a moment while she pulled up our file then I heard her say, "Whoa, I guess so!That's ridiculous! It's time to go shopping Erin" She recommended some other insurance agencies in the area and told me she was sorry, that with the new management some peoples insurance rates went down and others went up.

So I went shopping yesterday. Not really hard, I don't like talking to people on the phone especially insurance people.

I decided on Esurance. Something about Quote Buy Print appealed to me and the quote they gave me was $40.00 cheaper (monthly) than my last policy. Not to mention Erin and I have the same first name and same initials (that's totally a good reason to choose an insurance agency right?).
